What do Butter and toast visitors reviews this place?
Loads of places to choose from on Melbourne Street for a coffee – depends on your taste. In this case the flat white I had was really rather good – good taste, temperature and texture. In fact, was smooth enough to not require sugar. The delicious pandan croissant with green slime coloured custard made up for that!
This place is well known for its selection of fresh and super sweet donuts.
4 stalls and 2 small tables inside are offered while outside is a larger table that would seat at least 6 (when the weather suits).
On this occasion points off for running out of soy milk (and not sourcing more from nearby) as well as not greeting / acknowleging customers when they enter and leave the premises.

Great little coffee spot on Melbourne Street, North Adelaide. Melbourne street is looking great, with several new cafes and shops, new buildings and trees now established.
This an excellent little spot to stop for coffee.
Coffee is excellent and the staff are nice.
The donuts are not the hole in the middle type- but the filled type. There were many to choose from, i had the Banoffee, which i can recommend.
They also have a “bake of the week”. Check out their instagram.
Donuts are $6.50 each and coffees are $4.50, which is great value.
The area within the cafe is small and there are just a few seats outside.

A great little donut shop on Melbourne St! The cute signage and mildly faecitious name caught my eye many times while driving past… is it a cafe, I wondered? After staking out their Instagram page and finding out that they serve donuts and croissants not butter OR toast, I decided I needed to try for myself. I popped in on Easter Sunday and got 4 donuts to take away – lemon meringue, ube, Vietnamese coffee and pandan. The donuts are light; airy but with that nice donut-y chew to the bite. Perfect amount of filling in each. Although the viet coffee was the flavour that caught my eye initially, my favourites would have to be lemon meringue and pandan. But really, they were all great.
There were a couple of tables free when I went in, but the place is small enough that I would not bank on being able to get a table in future. I will most likely get takeaway again next time I come.

Been to butter and toast few times
They sell out pretty quick if you go later onwards so make sure to go early to get variety of selections

I enjoyed the lemon meringue, fig jam donut and the pandan croissant. Pandan croissant was super crispy and perfect even though we ate few hours after purchase
Strawberry matcha was not that great, it was a bit too watery or light in taste. I couldn’t really taste the strawberry
Coffee was good last time from my experience
It can get really busy so we waited a little for takeaway drinks but staff are super lovely and attentive!
I highly recommend the Thai milk tea drink! it’s not too sweet which I like it, the strawberry and matcha is a little bit lighter taste, i don’t recommend. personally I like the strawberry donut , the strawberry cream and cheese is so thick and creamy, and there’s bits and pieces strawberries innit. Next time I shall try the others:)
