What do Fortitude Bakehouse visitors reviews this place?
This bakery has been on my list for so long and it didn’t disappoint! Be prepared to queue if you’re visiting at a peak time, it’s something the bakery definitely cannot help since it’s gone viral. I tried their famous beignet, ours were with elderflower cream and gooseberry jam. Delicious and light with interesting flavours, the cream was surprisingly not too sickly too. Packaged in a nice box so perfect to keep them safe if you’re on the go, but there is seating nearby too if you just can’t wait.
Thank you team, we will definitely be back.
Great food I tried the cinnamon sticky bun which was great . Staff are very helpful . I red a few reviews before going there and I went prepared 🙂. Sunday morning around 9 (my hotel was very near . I could see the queue from my window) .The cobblestone Bloomsbury alley and the old horse hospital create an atmosphere of older more romantic times . Great selection of pastries both sweet and savoury. Due to the queues you have to decide in advance what you want . Coffee was good . Going outside the bakery there were three woden narrow long benches to sit . Overall a great and “different” experience.
Love this place, coffee is really great, the pastries are very fresh and massive in portions. I haven’t had the chance to try their signature beignets but I had the salt beef brioche and it was everything you need. Slightly overwhelmed by how messy it got because Fortitude is not stingy at all with the sauce / condiments, but their packaging was adequately good for a take out.
Will definitely go back to try more!
I had the chocolate cinnamon sticky bun which tasted really delicious until I got to the middle of the bun and it tasted quite sour and I thought that was a bit odd as I’ve never really tasted sourness in cinnamon buns that I’ve got from other bakeries. However, the size of the pastries is quite good and it’s definitely filling, the smell from the bakery lures you in. I visited Fortitude on a Saturday morning around the time it opened. I would like to try some of the other pastries in future as they looked delicious.
Absolutely recommend this bakehouse! The pastries are exceptional with a diverse selection. The only drawback is they offer only takeout. I always intend to limit myself to one pastry but invariably end up leaving with two or more!
