Iggy’s Bread

Discovering Iggy’s Bread was a delightful surprise. Initially familiar with their baguettes from grocery stores, I recently took a visit to their store, which doubled as a manufacturing facility. The space was charming and inviting, with everything priced quite reasonably.

I got a few of their sandwiches and pastries. Both the salmon bagel sandwich and the ham & egg sandwich were enjoyable. Their buns and bagels leaned more towards chewy side, but I liked them nonetheless. The pastries, however, were much better than I expected. Each one boasted a perfect level of flakiness and crispness, with the pecan sticky bun being my favorite. Unlike the typical sticky buns I’ve tasted around the city, this one had a unique, croissant-like base that made it exceptionally memorable.

Best bakery we’ve been to in the Boston area. Everything we’ve tried has been excellent, but I highly recommend the ancient grain sourdough, the feta twist and the croissants. The prices are reasonable and the staff is always friendly.

I stopped in for lunch today and grabbed 2 slices of giant fantastic pizzas. I had the spicy chorizo and vegan garlic oregano. The pizza is top notch I just can’t give it 5⭐️ because it’s cold pizza. The crust and everything still tastes great cold, but if they could serve it at least a bit warm it would be really be top notch.

I just wish that they would do a better job with their pizza. The seasoning is very weak, and it’s generally served cold. It should not be that difficult to figure out a way to fix that. The dough is fine, some of the topping are a bit odd, and seem to favor novelty, over what might actually taste good. They are also the only place I know of that sells pizza by the slice and refuses to provide ANY condiments ( i.e. hot pepper, black pepper, grated cheese, oil, etc. ). I have pointed out that they offer milk, sugar, etc., if you purchase their coffee, and having these items available for pizza, would be similar, but when I have mentioned this I just receive a blank look.

It’s such a joy to have our favourite bakery from Melbourne available here in Boston. The bread is very good.
