Iggy’s Pastries

SO good!!! The feta and sesame twist ($6) was a dream. I froze some croissants and happy to report they were still great after a quick defrost & air fryer! Lovely friendly service as well and, sometimes you may be able to get half sourdough loaf ($8)

I had been eager to try Iggy for some time, especially after hearing about their famous croissant. On a previous attempt to visit, I had difficulty finding the main store or bakery, as there were two stores without any signage or marketing pointing to the Iggy location.

However, today I visited the pastry studio and finally had the opportunity to try the pastries. I sampled the plain croissant, which was decent but not particularly noteworthy. It was warm with a bit of crunch, but not as flaky as I would have preferred. Despite this, it was buttery and soft.

I also tried the hazelnut and chocolate pain au, which had a pleasant, subtle flavor and a similarly non-flaky, buttery pastry. While not bad, it wasn’t good enough for me to go out of my way to line up and get it again.

Unfortunately, Iggy does not serve coffee, only filtered coffee, which is unacceptable for my tastes. I had to go next door to a café for my coffee fix, but the burnt coffee there was not up to my standards.

Iggy’s pastries is home to Sydney’s best sourdough croissants!!! With a constant line flowing down the road, this place doesn’t disappoint. With freshly baked buttery layers of flaky goodness, this is the place to be. Highly recommend the savoury feta croissant.

Iggy’s pastries is home to Sydney’s best croissant. The two butters used give a good balance of flavour and it is crispy with the outside flaking away gently and the inside is soft and lets you taste the sourdough starter used as well as the richness of the savoury butter. It is a tad rustic but if you would prefer precision and science of presentation over flavour then head to Lune in Melbourne. This is the place for flavour and texture, (and warm smiles and community too). Try also the savoury croissant offering, the fetta is great.

The early bird gets the worm! A takeaway bakery that specialises a series of sourdough croissants. It only opens on the weekends morning and normally sold out their croissants around 10. So come early.
