About this restaurants :
p.s They look a little squashed here in these pictures coz they are… they pics of the ones I bought home and so ashamed to say had got squashed in my bag as they had looked much better prior.
Real reason I came is cos had birthday cakes made here before, not coz was anyone’s birthday but love a good cake and liked the taste and texture of their plain cake with the butter cream icing ever since I had tasted it at someone else’s birthday.
Everything about these cakes are on point from an eating perspective and is seriously well worth the cost as a propahhh decent size but aesthetics wise… nah, not so much … alwats looks inviting , like u know its gonn’a taste good but defo not the prettiest ( got that kinda home baked- plain Jane look, bit like the cake yr ‘ the older Aunty who can bake’ cooks and if truth be told, decorated it too coz the butter cream icing looks like it wouldn’t be out of place on a table with that flocked 70’s paper behind it.
But looking to eat it, not wear it, and u could always go on utube and learn double quick time how to make roses out of icing if u want it pretty.
Their plain sponge texture is usually a little denser than a shop bought madeira, taste home-made, always moist, and just the right sweetness, but they’d run out of plain as U hadnt pre-ordered so got the banana flavour.
Defo can taste the banana, and maybe some cinnamon, found the texture is lighter than the plain sponge but still pretty tasty , doesn’t need any of the butter cream though, forgot I’d ordered banana when they offered to ice it. Would give their plain 4.8 stars out of 5, this banana cake 4.2 stars. Only Aunty gets the full 5 stars, as for real no-one can’t touch her baking.
Their staff are consistently polite and helpful, so you’re happy to give them your dosh.
5 patties, a 10-inch birthday cake, and a Ka bottle juice came up to around £21 .50, if you’re talking value for money… Real talk – one can not even get a cake this size and depth anywhere else for less than £15 in a supermarket, and that one don’t taste homemade…
You know when you have one a dem neighbours who bakes- where you’d happily sling dem a score for this size cake and feel like they’d done you a propah solid, if they’d then thrown in 5 patti and a bottle drink for another £1.50 you’d have married them off to yr cousin just to keep them baked goods rolling in… well, Lincoln’s is what keeps your cousin free to marry who they want…
Hats off to the owner/s and the super welcoming staff!!!
