Canadian Barista & Coffee Academy

I am a home coffee enthusiast interested in enhancing my skills and understanding of the espresso-making process. This interest led me to this wonderful workshop through an internet search, the present positive reviews aligned with my learning goals.

I enrolled in the Home Barista Espresso & Basic Latte Art Workshop, and it was a fantastic experience. The workshop met all my expectations. I learned about the entire coffee process, from the beans to brewing the perfect espresso, and the proper techniques for frothing milk to create latte art. So, a course that taught me what was advertised.

One suggestion I’d like to offer is the addition of a follow-up course. It would be great to have an advanced class focused on mastering three or four latte art designs. While the workshop does a great job covering the basics. Understandably at a pace suitable for various learning speeds. An advanced course would be a fun extension for those eager to expand their skills further. Just to create a few more latte arts.

Lastly, and most importantly, I wholeheartedly endorse this class. It is absolutely worth both your time and money. You will leave with substantial knowledge and practical skills that you can continue to build upon on your own.

Had an amazing content packed caffeine filled weekend with the Canadian Barista & Coffee Academy! Learned so much. The instructors, Michael and Justina, were very knowledgable and went into great detail teaching us everything about espresso technique, coffee chemistry, flavour profile, latte art, coffee tasting and so much more. They answered all our questions and it was a very engaging session! Whether you want to own a coffee business or are coffee geeks, they got you covered.

I found the instructor spent a fairly long time telling us about himself. Probably close to 25-30 minutes of stories before we got started. I’m all for making connections and such but this could have been cut back drastically. It also caused the class to run about 30 minutes late. We only did the first set of classes but I thought we would at least get to taste a good shot of espresso, not just bad ones. I did learn a couple things I’m hoping will aid in my use of a home machine though. We also never got our “certificates”, I don’t really care to have one but if it’s mentioned and part of what I’m paying for, I kind of expect to get it. Overall, the instructors were nice and they seem to know their stuff but there is definitely room for improvement.

I cannot say enough positive things about the 4-day workshop I went through, particularly the initial 2-days focused on the business side of things with Suzanne. The content was so well thought out and delivered. We had a small group at different stages of their coffee enterprises but I feel the content was valuable to everyone in the group. Suzanne is so charismatic and knowledgeable, fun, engaging, professional. The days flew by and I left with a lot of information and helpful pointers.
