Level 1 Te Papa Cafe

Overall, a good place for breakfast with nice coffee. The eggs Benedict looked great but I was so shocked with fully cooked yolks, which isn’t normal, right? This is the first time in my life having hard egg yolks for eggs Benedict.

Clean and tidy for the amount of people in the café, seating is a little difficult to find. Maybe a more seating sign would help as a lot of people were turned off by how full the place looked along with the long cue to order food. The food and service is really good considering the high number of people they have to serve. Just be patient, and you will be pleasantly surprised. The lemon, honey, and ginger is a go-to hot drink yum.

We visited the restaurant at Te Papa on 4th April, we ordered fish and chips. Although nicely presented with salad the fish and chips had a very greasy and bad tasting oily flavour , my companion had a severe bout of gastric problem not long after. Suggest fresh oil each time? Not the standard we anticipated.

A good option when you are spending a day at the Te Papa. We just beat the lunch rush by a few minutes and were served with in a few minutes of being seated. We ordered fish burger with fries (chef’s special for that day), pasta and coffee. All of them were good. My little one got entertained by some ducks and ducklings in the outside seating area. And they have coloring paper and pencils right at the entrance, that kept him busy for a while. Overall, we had a good experience.

My daughter enjoyed the mini Iced Mocha $4.50 and we shared the delicious Pasta of the Day $22 although the pasta has not much ingredients. We would prefer it come with more bacon and mushrooms and bigger portion please.
