Second day in a row no ice. Had a great iced Carmel latte there last week said I’d go again. Yesterday no ice, today same thing. Great place just manage your stock a bit better, especially with the iced coffee craze happening since recent years
Stephen and Saoirse were so nice and helpful..Stephens recommendations always the best
Exceptionally good coffee. An amazing place. Brendan Mullins is a top class operator and a great teacher. These guys really know their stuff.
At Ponaire apparently they know everything about coffee! Their espresso coffee is excellent, I would say even the best I’ve ever had (I’m from Italy…). I stopped here the first time by chance on my way to a daily trip, and I was intrigued by this place. I recently went there a second time, on purpose, to better understand the place, and it was definitely worth it (I live in Limerick and have just a bicycle, so it’s a nice 15 km ride 😉 ). They roast coffee beans themselves (you can see the machinery from inside the shop), which is definitely a plus. But that’s not all… More importantly, they are apparently very adept at… making coffee! I mean it: I got an espresso coffee perfectly made, which means they know how to use a coffee grinder and a professional coffee machine (if you’re into coffee making, you’ll understand what I mean…; unfortunately, both skills are usually in short supply in Irish coffee shops). I know a couple of places where I can find very good coffee in Limerick, but Ponaire is definitely ahead of any coffee shop I’ve been in so far in Ireland. As an Italian expat, I’ve been searching for a place like this for 5 years. Finally got it! I was even surprised by the level of expertise about coffee showed by the young lady who made my coffee. I was curious about what kind of coffee they use (I got a 100% Arabica coffee from Colombia, freshly roasted a couple of days before; apparently, they change the coffee type depending on what they are roasting), but I was hesitating to ask. Eventually, we had a short chat about some details where she gave answers like a pro barista. Very impressive!! If coffee can be a passion, they are definitely passionate about coffee at Ponaire. I’m looking forward to the next chance to get there and discover one more of their freshly roasted coffees! If you go there to taste their espresso, just make me a favour: do not add any sugar or milk, just enjoy it as is, to fully appreciate every fine detail. It would be a pity to spoil the taste of such an excellent coffee 😉
