This cafe in Kinross is my go to stop for a nice coffee or hot chocolate for the drive home from Perthshire. We decided to stop in for lunch yesterday and tried the South-East Asian Hurricane and Caprese open sourdough toasts – the chicken on the hurricane toast was surprisingly some of the best chicken I’ve ever had. Have tried their cakes on other stops which are amazing too.
The only thing which wasn’t clear yesterday was that there is table service and seemingly you should go to the till to ask for a table rather than seat yourself.
Lovely wee cafe worth visiting. Roasting fresh coffee in the cafe itself! Also sells plenty of coffee equipment and loads of different coffees.
I’m always on the look out for a good decafinated coffee and was really impressed with the ‘Dee calf’ offering from Unorthodox Roasters. The flavour is noted as ‘Brown sugar, orange, malty’ and it’s all of these and more!
I found the cafe by accident but now make a point of taking the short detour into Kinross to visit the cafe when travelling up or down the M90, and buy a bag of coffee for the road.
Fascinating to see the coffee roasting equipment in the cafe and impressed with the food on offer too. I imagine it would make a perfect lunch stop on a walk around Loch Leven.

Best coffee we’ve had in Scotland. Granted, we’re from a way South of the border, but still. The whole experience was great, top notch service, hand cranked coffee with a great coffee and hot chocolate to boot. We went back in for beans before heading home and can’t wait to get them brewed up. Cheers guys!
Also, the lemon blueberry cake is amazing.
A great little find on the high street of Kinross. The coffee here is great and there’s cakes and small plates available for brunch or snacks.
