What do Domino’s Pizza Newtown (nz) visitors reviews this place?
The delivery was longer than the app stated and was changed from ETA to “rate your order” prior to actually getting our pizzas, which was worrying.
On calling the store, we were questioned why we used an international number (even though the order was prepaid) and had to justify that we are on holiday.
As for the location of our order – apparently my husband looked threatening (??) when the delivery rider approached and he ran away without delivering our order.
Don’t get me wrong, as a woman always worried for my own safety at baseline, I get it – safety first, but it’s just so weird under these circumstances.
We ordered. We pre-paid. They knew they were delivering to a guy at this address. There was a guy waiting at said address. Their job is to deliver to people. This was not an unsolicited interaction. Also, my husband isn’t the scary looking type (maybe I’m bias?). He didn’t ask a name. They didn’t even try to call to clarify. He just… Rode off. With our pizzas.
After justifying to the store via phone that our order was not wrong or fake or whatever, the rider returned with our order.
I wouldn’t mind knowing what happened in between the store and the rider returning with our food because our pizzas were completely mangled. See pictures.
Anyway, pizzas were still warm and we got them I guess? Good flavours and the toppings that were still intact were generous. Also I get to call my hubs scary looking now, so that’s a bonus.
To be genuine, though, I hope that rider is ok and I’m sorry for whatever poor interactions he’s been subject to in the past which have lead to a fear for his own safety in his job.
I did call the branch after a couple attempts and the dude just seemed tetchy with me for daring to disturb him.
The pizzas were the star of this show.
Vegorama was suffering from some rather haphazard cheese placement. Definitely seen better on most of the pizzas I’ve eaten in my life. And the red onions, goodness me… Rarely have I witnessed such an egregious violation of all I have come to understand as right in the world of pizza toppings. Somehow, they had managed to give me all the solid disc-shaped side chunks. Which were disdainfully tossed inconsistently across the top of the pizza. Never seen anything like it. Wild. Photo attached because just, like… Dude.
To their credit, the topping spread on the paneer pizza was pretty consistent, although the cheese didn’t cover everywhere it should. However, most of the the sauce drizzle was on the lid of the box. The pizza was a bit squished. Probably because it had clearly been, ya know: squished.
Garlic bread was pretty solid actually. Lots of garlic butter, perfect outer crisp. Lovely and smooshy in the middle. Good stuff, shame about the pizzas.
Congratulations to Domino’s for providing such a chaotic delivery experience that I’ve done my second 3 star review ever. Usually places I’ve been are either good, or so unforgivable in every way that I wish I could give them zero stars. Instead you’ve made my life interesting by giving me the takeaway equivalent to some time in purgatory. The other 3 star review was a similarly limbo-like experience.
The only things going for this place are that it’s cheap and the staff are nice. Otherwise, it’s a horrifying industrial food factory that produces the worst pizzas i’ve ever tasted. The ones from the supermarket freezer are better.
I phoned and they assured me that it was delivered but when I got there the pizza was there and everything was cold.
Now I’m hungry, have a headache and really not enjoying anything
