McDonald’s Taupo isn’t your average fast-food joint—it’s a time capsule waiting to be explored. The vintage DC-3 airplane parked nearby adds a thrilling touch, setting the stage for an unforgettable visit.

While we didn’t dine inside the airplane itself, its presence added an extra layer of charm. Fun fact: this historic aircraft once advertised a car dealership before joining McDonald’s over 30 years ago.

But it’s not just about nostalgia here—McDonald’s Taupo offers delicious food and a welcoming vibe. Despite not having massive portions, every bite bursts with flavor. And the views of Lake Taupo? Simply breathtaking.

Plus, the attention to detail is top-notch. From ample parking to pristine restrooms, every aspect is carefully tended to, ensuring a comfortable experience.

same Mac no need to buy food if you only want see plant , just cross road and take photos.

Real plant is steam and hot , no air conditioner.

Waiting line is take 15-20 min for your food get ready . Need to wait .

Bin was full when I was there not hygiene, toilet is horrible.

Soft drink is sold out and food size is smaller.

Very busy and very dirty. The fries were a bit soggy and the Big Mac was lacking the iconic Big Mac sauce. Bathrooms were filthy and the front lobby area had trash strewn everywhere. Cool airplane, but also very unsanitary.

Consistent taste of Big Mac with Chicken and Bacon, egg McMuffin, and hashbrown. The coffee was mild. A few spacious indoor dine-in areas and a few outdoor tables. The DC3 airplane’s dine-in area has tables only for 2 persons. Free car park bays just outside the building. Children can climb up to the DC3 with adult supervision.

Great experience for the kids here at Taupo maccas. As far as I remember I didn’t know you could eat inside the DC3 plane parked beside the restaurant. Now the kids remember this plane every time they see a McDonald’s. Good service too. Will definitely be a stop each time we are here.
