New City Restaurant

Being from Hong Kong we often crave a little bit of the taste of what we grew up on. We pass by New City Restaurant many times and decided to try something new for us today from the normal places we normally go to when we yearn for some hometown nostalgia. We arrived on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was still pretty busy and there was only one table available when we got there. We decided to order the Baked Seafood Spaghetti, the Stir Fry Beef Udon on a Sizzling Plate and the Pork Chop Rice. Portions were a bit small, but everything came out great. Our favorite was the Pork Chop Rice because the tomato sauce really transported us back to Hong Kong. The only complaint of there was one, was that there wasn’t as much rice as we would have liked. The Baked Seafood Spaghetti was good, but we would have liked a little more cheese. The Udon tasted good, but gets pretty greasy the closer you get to the plate. The service was amazing for Hong Kong standards. Overall, this was a good experience on par with the other Hong Kong style establishments we normally frequent.

Food was pretty good with decent portions. Prices were very good as well.

Only complaint is that my groupa with rice didn’t have any vegetables at all! But otherwise the fish was flaky and moist.

As for their HK milk tea, it’s on par with other HK cafes.

Came here for afternoon tea. Menu has a variety for HK fried foods, sandwiches and noodle soups. Lots of variety to choose from at affordable prices.

Fast, efficient and courteous service from the young staff. I am glad to see the younger generation working in the HK cafe business.

Decor has been kept up to date.

At this price range, I can’t expect anymore.

We went there for set breakfast, and not a lot of places are now less than $10. The menu is very complete, and during weekdays, you can even swap the ingredients. We ordered the satay beef spaghetti in soup, with bacon and eggs, and bread with butter. The food quality was acceptable at this price range. The HK style milk tea was unexpectedly good. The servers are fast and helpful. May return in future for lunch and dinner.
