Taqueria La Nueva – Overland Park

The quesabirria tacos are delicious! Historically birria tacos aren’t my favorite, but la Taqueria la Nueva’s birria soup and hearty, cheesy tacos are so good! Also enjoyed the tacos al pastor and lengua. Service at the counter was super friendly and helpful, and had fun watching the bartender mix cocktails poured into cheeky earthenware. Looking forward to our next visit!

I forgot that I visited this restaurant in 2021. I revisited in 2023. Food is still scrumptious. I ordered 3 quebirrias for $9+cents. Tender and Juicy. I’m kind of an introvert. The restaurant stays packed. I like to avoid crowds. I just pay, grab, and go.

Love this authentic restaurant. The atmosphere is always BUSY. The service is quick but you have to wait due to the high demand. The food is A1. Orders consisted of (beef cheek, steak and Birria tacos and Chips and Queso). Shoutout to them highly recommended

My Husband and I stumbled across Taqueria La Nueva by chance. What a happy accident! This is not your typical table service restaurant but instead you place your order at the window and collect your food at the opposite end of the counter once your order number is called. Once your food is in hand they have a condiments bar complete with a variety of hot sauce, onions, limes, cilantro etc.. to accentuate your meal. The bar is located within the main dining room but is separate from the counter where food is ordered. This restaurant is self seating with plenty of tables. However they were busy which is a great sign! The young lady that took our order was extremely pleasant and helpful in helping to navigating the menu options.

We tried both the Quesabirria Tacos as well as the Menudo. The Birria tacos were fantastic as was the Consommé that they were served with. This was my first time giving Menudo a try and I was pleasantly surprised! We already can’t wait to return to try more menu items. If authentic Jalisco is your thing then this is a must try!!

Simply put- EXCELLENT. This was one of the best taquerias I’ve ever ate at. And I’ve been to a lot in over 15 states. Outstanding warm and soft corn tortillas, great chorizo, well seasoned birria meat with a great consome. Did I mention a salsa and toppings bar!!! This place checks all boxes for authentic food and a welcoming staff!
