Ballina Dragon Boat Racing Club throughly enjoyed their Celebration Drinks & Dinner. Awesome food… absolutely delicious. Service was exceptional & a great atmosphere. I had a terrible experience there. My friends were at the bar and invited me so I came a bit later. Paid 10 dollars for entrance. Once i entered, me and my friends went to the bar to buy ourselves some drinks. We waited a few minutes at the line for our turn to order. When our turn came, I started taking to the bar tender and she stopped me in the middle of my sentence claiming that I need to sober up (and I didn’t drink a single drop of alcohol). I thought I didn’t understand what she said to me so I started taking again and she was saying that she won’t sell anything to me, to have a cup of water and come back after 10 minutes. I was surprised and didn’t understand what was going on. Then suddenly bodyguards came to encounter me to the way outside of the bar. The manager of the bar came, told me that that rude bartender said I was falling asleep on the bar, and being violent to her which was clearly not true and all of my friends were surprised too. I told him I wasn’t and the manager didn’t believe me or didn’t even want to hear what I had to say. Then he told me I cannot get back in to the bar. So I just left.
I was so humiliated and ashamed and angry of the situation. I felt attacked and that it is such an absurd that just because a certain bartender didn’t feel like selling me a drink I had to be kicked out in front of everyone and my friends and it wasn’t even justified since I didn’t drink anything except water at that day!!!
So my recommendation is don’t go to this bar.

I’ve been in Sydney for 8 weeks and Scary Canary is my favourite bar! The people are so nice and always have something fun going on! Some of my favourite people at are Lina from Finland(Super friendly and the funniest)! Denise is so sweet and always has a smile on her face! Scary canary is a great place to have some fun, eat some good food and awesome place to meet people!

My friend and I were going to the bathroom, however, the management thought that we were actually vomiting in the stall which was incorrect and kicked us out from our event which we paid for. We had only been there for an hour, and to us it seemed like management was stress about how many people were in the venue and therefore decided to take it out on the younger individuals. Whilst we completely understand why they would not want people who are being sick in their venue, the management was completely wrong and was not understanding when we tried to explain we were completely fine and were just using the bathroom. Ultimately, my friends and I will not be retuning to the scary canary as the management was very unpleasant, rude, incorrect and did not listen to us when we tried to explain the situation from our perspective. If you would like to go out, do not come to this venue as the management will try to kick you out just because they cannot manage large crowds and you will be left in the street even if you haven’t done anything wrong.

Visited The Scary Canary on a recent trip to Sydney (16 Feb) and had a fantastic time. The staff were super friendly and the service was excellent. The food was extremely well priced and of absolute top notch quality. I would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting a easy, relaxed and fun night out!
