What do Amisfield Restaurant and Cellar Door visitors reviews this place?
Very creative dishes. Everything tastes great and delicious except the dessert. Love the baby abalone truffle bread and grilled deer. The plum moose is a little too sour and not sweet enough for our taste and the deer milk ice cream not creamy. The winery setting is very refreshing particularly when we dined outside with great weather. The service is also excellent. Really enjoyed the experience.
In November, we delighted in the luncheon tasting menu with wine pairings. It was delicious food, wonderful wine, and engaging theater. The chef lives up to his reputation, and we enjoyed our 50th wedding anniversary celebration immensely. Our servers were stellar, and because we will probably never visit New Zealand again, we will always cherish this experience.
I’m surprised this place doesn’t have a Michelin star, but I’m confident it will. Hands down the best place we’ve eaten during our south island trip by far (and we’ve searched out the best restaurant in ever town). This was worth every penny.. You will experience culinary and visual delights and be surprised at every turn. I love how the chef incorporates local ingredients in his starters and entrees, such as deer, paua, whitebait, blue cod etc. My favorite was the greenbone and the blue cod/scampi/zucchini. The truffle brioche was to die for. There was not one disappointing dish. I’m coming back for dinner next time. The waitress did inform me that about 7 of the current dishes for lunch are also on the dinner menu. (Lunch is 9 dishes and dinner is 19)
Had a fabulous lunch there with friends. Gorgeous setting with plenty of sun protection in the form of sunblock, hats umbrellas and trees. The food was amazing in both presentation and taste. Very creative use of props and local produce. Staff were attentive, knowledgable and engaging. Very impressed… try it , you won’t be disappointed.
We had a long lunch here and it was amazing. Highly recommend the food + wine pairing. Summer flower, deer, and paua was stand out. The twist on ice cream was a delight.
