A very special experience that we won’t soon forget. The staff, decor and the tasting menu were all world class. So proud to have such a restaurant in Galway showcasing what Irish cuisine can be with creativity and execution.

My girlfriend and I have been all over the world and have dined at multiple Michelin restaurants. Aniar was quite possibly the best we have ever had. So much so I’m beginning to question the Michelin Guide itself. The food and service are on another level. Definitely worthy of 2 / 3 stars. The addition of poems about “Bread” & “Oysters”, the fact that our menu could be planted for us to grow Chamomile, and the overall fact that every part of the menu came from western Ireland was fantastic. I’m utterly impressed/amazed that I have a better understanding of Irish food without even trying classic Irish dishes. Anier is what Irish food should be. Local, sustainable, and seasonal. The oysters ice cream, goat cheese with asparagus, and the venison with sunchokes/maitake mushrooms were our favorite. The edition of local drinks and juices were also a highlight we recommend. Not just the uniqueness of them but how they complimented the courses they were paired with. Do your self a favor and take the 3 hour drive (or 6 hour) to Galway and go here. It might just change you. It did us.

Our meal here was an absolute delight! The food was tasty and creative and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The plating of each dish was beautiful, and we covered a wide range of flavors and ingredients over the many courses. Our visit was definitely a highlight during our visit to Ireland, and it was definitely the best thing we did in Galway!

I booked a table for my brother’s 40th Birthday. He hadn’t stopped talking about JP McMahon for weeks, so it seemed appropriate, especially as the restaurant was freshly re-opened.
I have never eaten in a michellin starred restaurant before, so it was new for me. I didn’t know what to expect although I was a bit worried it would be pretentious or stuffy…. I needn’t have worried as it was relaxed, friendly and honestly incredibly hospitable.
And the food was mind-blowing! Oyster icecream is a game changer, apparently!
