Café and Bar Lurcat

This is one of our special occasion places! The food and ambience is always so great. If you have friends visiting from out of town, this is the place you want to take to impress them. We like the bar side, but went for a date night recently and ate on the dinner side. We had an impromptu four course meal that was curated by our server. We took out time and didn’t feel rushed. Every server and staff seem to be in a good mood and polite, whether they are bringing you food, cleaning your table, or passing you on your way out. I definitely recommend going about an hour before sunset. PS the setting in the former monk’s quarters is beautiful.

Excellent dinner at Cafe Lurcat during restaurant week! The atmosphere is gorgeous and inviting. The quality of food matches the fine dining experience.

🐄 We started off with the Wagyu steak tartare and the corned beef tongue. Both were tender and seasoned perfectly.

For our main entrées, we ordered the Amish chicken and the pork chop. Our main dish order took a little longer than expected. Our waitress informed us that a large party (20 people!) was in front of our order, so she offered us a side dish to accompany our main meals and we added the sweet potatoes.

🐓 The main entrées were well done — chicken was beautifully carved and presented. The skin was tasty. The black rice and sauce were nice compliments to the meat.

🐖 The pork chop was a beautiful, thick cut of meat. We ordered it medium and it may have been ever so slightly cooked a little under medium. Seasoning was perfect and had a nice, tart flavor coming through with the sauerkraut.

🍠 🌟 WOW! 🤩 The sweet potatoes were the star of the evening! Sweet, savory, bright and fresh with lemon, crispy skins… just wow! Order the sweet potatoes!!

🍰 For dessert, we ordered the chocolate panna cotta and olive oil cake. Both were absolutely stunning and would fit right in at any patisserie! Excellent flavors, textures, and presentation! Faultless!

This place was great. Me and my husband first time dining there last night and I loved it. The food was really good so was the dessert. My husband thought the food was good but portion was to small for him. Our server was amazing and she was very very sweet so nice we loved her. She better get the tip I gave her! Highly recommend the duck leg that was really good I had that and the olive oil cake for dessert. My husband had the lamb chops and the mini cinnamon sugar donuts for dessert.

This is our second time to eat there and I waited for our second experience to rate to be fair. Now I am confident with three stars. For both visits, we have been placed to the second area where the kitchen is. Even though seeing the kitchen is a nice experience, this place smells like you sit in a fryer. No good air circulation. I had to send my wool coat, cashmere sweater to air cleaning after visiting there. It happened in both visits. So, on top of 22% service fee+tip, I paid dry cleaning. Beyond that, service was very average for a restaurant like Lurcat. I shared the feedback with the manager and he didn’t seem welcomed my feedback. Food is always good and good size per portion even in restaurant week. Therefore I still give three stars otherwise it might have been two stars.

Nate was a pleasure! So pleasant and knowledgeable. The tartar was excellent and the pasta lamb was tender and delicious. Both the apple and the blondie were great. Beautiful atmosphere with the sun setting on those huge windows and jazz music (Friday night). Definitely coming back!
