‘Essen

I came in around noon expecting fresh food at the hot bar. I guess they prepare it a bit earlier for the lunch rush. I sampled a variety of options including: steam veggies, general tso chicken (I believe or maybe another type of Asian chicken that is similar), one calamari, salmon and shrimp.

I was a big fan of ‘Essen since 2014. Seems as if they’ve closed all of their locations except this location. There isn’t much area to sit but there is some seating in the front (from other pics it looks like they may have seating upstairs but I was unaware). The veggies were tasty, the chicken was okay (a little dense), the salmon was alright (not as dry as expected) and the shrimp was so/so- it was difficult to pick pieces that were seasoned evenly. Overall it wasn’t bad, just very mediocre. Not sure I’d return soon. Cashier was friendly though it is annoying they charge more for using a card but I guess that’s not uncommon in NYC anymore.

The place has a nice atmosphere and I like the music as well as the setup. There should be a restroom though

This place is amazing. Me and my co worker has been searching for a place that makes their customer feels welcomed, reasonable price, outstanding customer service , and a good , clean atmosphere. When you walk in you smell different foods and spices which entices you to try new items there. They literally have everything from food bars to deli spot where you can order sandwiches and my favorite place , the smoothie spot. Smoothies are amazing and the staff behind the registers are all really nice, friendly, and listen very well to what you want. I have an excellent experience ordering food , eating the food, and reminiscing about my experience. Definitely highly recommend !!!

Food is not bad. But was overcharged for a salad. I told the cashier that it was their specialty salad on the menu. Not the more expensive custom order. She got loud with me and said no it’s that price. I said no it’s not. She got even louder and still charged me the more expensive price. I just paid it because I’m not going to argue and hold up the line during lunch hour for a small difference.

Yes, probably over-priced but the variety of food that this place offers makes me really happy. Healthy options and fast service.
