What do Exhibition Restaurant visitors reviews this place?
We were a little late (it was a rainy Friday night, the traffic was crazy, and the parking was full!), so we had to hurry with our dinner, because there was another round of seating after us.
The staff checked for our feedback after every dish, which was robotic and too much for us, but maybe that’s the standard expected from Fortune / Michelin restaurants. The tables were also very close to each other, not ideal for a private or romantic dinner.
We were fortunate enough to be seated by the chef’s counter and witness how each dish was elegantly prepped in front of us. Watching how every dish was assembled in front of you definitely elevates the experience of the whole dinner. The appetizers hit us by surprise as the chef serves up 11 varieties of carefully crafted and unique tasting dishes. Despite that they are all of high quality and delicious, have to highlight some of the dishes here which includes the Blue Marlin Chutoro Oshinko, Abalone Liver Parfait, 9+Wagyu + Shiitake Mishroom and the Duck Dashi master stock.
After the appetizer came the entree, main and desert which includes Spanner crab, Murray Cod and Wagyu Yakiniku which followed up from the appetizer and was as elegant and delicious. The sauces the chef served up was very well thought after as they complemented the main ingredient very well. The ingredients were very fresh as they were sourced from local farmers to show the restaurant’s support for local produce.
The night ended with deserts which were very refreshing and cleanses your pallet to cap off the night.
Service was top notched and the staff there from chef to wait and bar staff are so welcoming and tentatively attend to you all night.
The location is very convenient located in the heart of the Brisbane city with multiple parking options available for evening/night parking.
Highly recommended dining experience.
The degustation menu was like a well-orchestrated food playlist. Kicking off with yellowfin tuna chutoro with a mix of oshinko, daikon, and wasabi, it was clear this wouldn’t be an ordinary dinner. The autumn herbs and vegetables tart with its duck dashi master stock was a clever twist on your grandma’s veggie pie.
The sashimi scampi with Xian You Tiao was a nod to the ocean, and the Murray Cod Cheek had me wondering why cheeks aren’t the go-to fish part. The abalone liver parfait with Shokupan was as fancy as it sounds (I didn’t know what any of those words were either…), and for cheese lovers, the Manchego and shiitake Mushroom XO Saison Smallgoods were a match made in heaven.
Wagyu made a grand entrance not once but twice, first as a bresaola and then as a 9+ wagyu with a shiitake mushroom XO that was so tender, it practically whispered sweet nothings to your taste buds.
The lamb pin with beetroot and Juniper was a meaty masterpiece, and the wagyu yakiniku with baby corn and kombu was like a beefy hug.
The desserts were a playful end to the meal: abiu and amber jackfruit brought the tropics to the table, while the Smoked Wagyu Caramel Roasted Chestnut Truffle was a smoky, nutty delight.
Exhibition isn’t just a restaurant; it’s a place where good food and vibes come together. It’s hands down one of Brisbane’s best, and if you’re up for a culinary adventure with a dash of fun, this is your spot.
