What do Firedoor Restaurant visitors reviews this place?
We opted for the 6 course which was $255. There’s also a 5 course for $185. There are other add on items, we chose the 500g 344 day dry age steak for $415. They have other portion options as well. Usually I wouldn’t order such a pricey item but we had 4 people to split that cost. So when we scored a booking, I was excited and willing to go all out because I may never score another opportunity to dine here again.
Every course that came out was delicious and impressive. The most memorable dish is 344 day dry age steak, it was a whole new experience for the taste buds. It was so flavourful and tender. It was so different to the previous wagyu dish. Even though this dish is the most expensive, I would order this again.
It’s not easy getting a reservation here and the price tag is not for everyone. I had a wonderful experience, and I would like to come back again, it’ll have to be for a very special occasion.
I managed to get a booking for my birthday. When I made it, it was initially for 6:45pm, a few days later I got a call saying that they stuffed up and are only offering me 6pm or 8:15. I chose the 8:15 as I advised I wanted to check with my other guest. When I tried to call back a day later, they advised that the 6pm was no longer available.. I was pretty disappointed as it was my birthday dinner and the 8:15 was pretty late (we ended up leaving the restaurant at like 10:30/11)
Don’t get me wrong, the food was good but would I go back? No. It’s lovely but no I wouldn’t do it again. The portion sizes are very generous keep that in mind and the steaks are extra.
Staff were lovely and the service couldn’t be faulted.
4/5
We ordered the 5 course menu with the dry aged steak add-on. Flavours throughout the night were on point. Each course was perfectly balanced.
Drinks were on the heavy side when ordering.
I would highly recommend and I’ll be coming back for another visit.
The 5-course menu isn’t just a parade of dishes; it’s a symphony of tastes, textures, and surprises. Each course whispers the story of its locally sourced ingredients, like a farmer whispering secrets to the soil.
But it’s not just the ingredients that shine. Hastie’s creativity paints the plates with edible artistry. Every bite is a discovery, a playful interaction between flavors and textures that keeps your senses on their toes.
The attentive service adds another layer to the experience. The staff doesn’t just explain the dishes, they translate the language of fire into stories that ignite your imagination. You feel like a guest at a private performance, not just a diner.
Sure, Firedoor isn’t the cheapest seat in town, but it’s an investment in an experience that lingers long after the last bite. It’s a testament to the power of fire, the magic of fresh ingredients, and the artistry of a chef who dances with flames to create edible masterpieces. If you’re looking for a dining experience that’s more than just a meal, Firedoor is where your culinary odyssey begins.
5/5 stars, no question. This is one fire you won’t want to miss!
