What do Indian Alley Wakefield Restaurant and Bar visitors reviews this place?
Staff were very welcoming on arrival and looked after us throughout our meal. They were professional and clearly customer focused.
We had Chicken Kastoori Kebab as a shared starter, again stunning, very succulent and flavourful – (Glad we didn’t get a starter each as the portion was generous!)
For main we had Lamb Parda Biryani and Chicken Tikka Lababdar – Fantastic, packed full of flavour!
The only thing that wasn’t quite to my taste was the Mango Lassi – Just a bit too sweet for me, but still a nice accompaniment.
Personally, I don’t see it necessary to pay $100 for a meal, and then $1.50 for takeaway boxes for leftovers and a 2.5%/$2.50 surcharge.
If I lived in Wellington I would definitely return, and 100% recommend to anybody looking for an Indian Restaurant.
I cannot pick a favourite curry because they are all absolutely delicious. But okay okay, the Korma (chicken this time) and Palak Paneer are some of the best I’ve eaten in my life. We’ve also had their prawn curries, the Lamb Rara…basically I want to work my way through the entire menu because thus far everything has been so outstanding it’s made me think ‘Okay THIS ONE is my favourite’ …until I try the next one 😛
I also have to applaud the staff for being so friendly and courteous even in the face of Wellington’s hospo staff crisis. Occasionally the food has taken a little longer to come out but that doesn’t mean the staff aren’t working their buns off as fast as they can. There just aren’t as many of them as they might need sometimes & it also looks like they do a cracking trade in takeaways too.
It’s a small price to pay for such delicious fare. Their price point is very reasonable and the restaurant itself is super cute. Very dangerous being located so close to our flat too! I feel a little bad for all other Indian restaurants in Wellington now because there’s no going back now. Do yourself a favour and try this wonderful restaurant. You won’t regret it
The Biryani was solid, but the real star was the Pasanda curry. Creamy, full of flavor, and the meat was super tender. The let down was the chicken tandoori as it was very dry!
Everything took ages to come out—almost an hour for our starters, and then another long wait for the mains. Seems like they were short-staffed or something.
Despite the hiccups, those flavors were on point. I might give it another try because of that alone.
