What do Liberty Restaurant visitors reviews this place?
I stumbled upon Liberty restaurant while strolling along Cuba Street, and what a delightful find it was! The highlight of my dining experience was undoubtedly the tempura oyster appetizer; the flavors were simply fantastic and paired beautifully with the recommended white wine. For the main course, I couldn’t resist ordering the lamb rump – being a fan of New Zealand lamb back home, I had to taste it for myself here. The dish did not disappoint; it was cooked to perfection. The service at Liberty was exemplary, with Pietro providing attentive and knowledgeable assistance throughout the meal. Not only did he have a thorough understanding of the menu, but he also shared some travel tips for the remainder of my holiday. Overall, dining at Liberty was a memorable experience, and one of the highlights of my Wellington trip.
Highly recommended. We were a party of 2, a Wellingtonian and a visitor from Sydney dining evening of Thursday 1 February 2024. The food is fresh, beautifully prepared and presented. Great flavours. An example of fantastic dining where it is hard to replicate at home. In my view better to dine in high quality venues (not necessarily high priced) and cook at home/visit the supermarket rather than settle for poor quality and/or overpriced mediocre food. Jasper provided excellent service, friendly, informative. Ensured the need of one of our party who is allergic to anything spicy was met. We would happily eat at Liberty again. Proud to have this eatery as a member of the restaurant scene in Wellington.
We stumbled across this place and were intrigued by the menu. We started with the octopus, which was the nicest we’ve had outside Portugal or Spain. The oyster mushrooms and broccolini were both delicious but the star was the lamb rump, tender, juicy and delicious. The pomegranate seeds have a surprising wow factor. Wonderful meal!
As fine dining continues to disappear from Wellington, Liberty offers an attractive option. The spacious setting, short but interesting wine list and unobtrusive service all make me want to go there again. As a vegetarian however, I’d like to see some vegetarian friendly protein options before I do.
We choose the option of letting them decide our meal, as I was hoping to get a balanced meal that included something not on the menu. We got all the vegetables on the menu – mushrooms (which were really tasty and different), eggplant and cauliflower which were complimented with with the bread (and delicious butter), cheese puffs and hot chili chips (which were tasty but a bit out of place).
I hope Liberty continues to do well, and I look forward to seeing how their menu evolves.
