About this restaurants :
I and a friend came for lunch. We had a nice welcome by the waiting staff and were seated close to the window. They explained us how the menu works and we order 4 dishes plus two desserts and two glasses of wine. The primitivo rose had a nice fruity bouquet while the Pecorino was a nice one but standard. Of the four dishes we tried the most nice was the salmon tartare. It had a nice combination of flavors and consistencies. It was the sillier but the nicest. The tartare was good but nothing special, same for the croquettes. The Bao Bun was an interesting concept. But the pulled duck inside was a bit too dry. It would have been much nicer with a sauce inside together with the duck meat.
The desserts were simple but very nice. The combination of chocolate mousse and miso was delicious.
It was a good experience, but the prices are very high for a beef tartare on potato dauphinoise a salmon tartare with some rice and fried nori and croquettes. The dessert were well priced for their quality.
Service was good but not super attentive, but to be honest they got pretty busy.
The atmosphere was friendly and but the rooms decor is a bit empty.
If you have never been I would definitely check Noto out.

Firstly, the location is convenient and easy to find, which is always a plus.As for the food, I tried the beef tartare, which was good in flavor, but the portion size was a bit small for my liking. However, the North Sea crab dish stole the show for me. It was incredibly creamy and rich, thanks to the generous amount of butter, though it can be a tad salty if enjoyed alone. Pairing it with the bread provided balanced out the flavors perfectly.Additionally, I decided to try the bao bun, and I was not disappointed. The bun was exceptionally soft with a satisfyingly crispy exterior, making for a delightful texture contrast. On the service front, I found the staff to be attentive and courteous throughout my meal. The interior of the restaurant is tastefully decorated, with some interesting picture spots that add to the ambiance.
Overall, while there were some minor drawbacks, such as the small portion size of the beef tartare, the standout dishes and pleasant atmosphere make this restaurant worth a visit.
Highlights were the crab and the duck bao, very good.
The other dishes were ok, the fried chicken a bit disappointing (not crispy). Prices on the higher side

Noto is a fantastic hole in the wall spot, featuring a comfortable homey vibe with very helpful and friendly staff. Their menu offers many tappas style options, with our favorites being the scallops, the broccoli tempura, and and Beef Tartare. Personally the Short rib was underwhelming in comparison to their other dishes. Overall one of my favorite dinning experiences in Edinburgh.
Relaxed and casual environment with very attentive service. Food was gorgeous – they did advise us to order a lot as they are all canapé sized portions. Would love slightly larger bites for a larger price but overall a great dining experience.
