What do Quay Restaurant visitors reviews this place?
Extremely small portions, was left still hungry. Majority of dishes were cream based and for the price expected a lot more.
Views are great obviously but at this price point there are much better options and would not recommend Quay.
In many dishes, the more subtle ingredients were overpowered by heavy cream/custard sauces. The paired wines were ok on their own but somehow they consistently made dishes taste worse. It might be better to go by the glass or bottle — they do have a large wine list and many options by the glass.
The design of the round room upstairs is great for views but terrible for noise. The windows and low ceiling made of mirrors echo everything. It’s impossible to have a conversation without shouting and the experience is deafening over the course of a 3-hour dinner. It must certainly suck for the staff as well.
One last thing to note (which is of course not the restaurant’s doing): while the view of the opera is fantastic, there’s also a chance that a cruise ship will come in, parallel park, and block it 🙃
Absolutely amazing menu from beautiful ingredients. I would want to give 10 stars if possible.

One of Sydney’s iconic spot with contemporary interior design. You will feel like you have onboarded on a cruise.
My husband and I celebrated our first big milestone in marriage which is 5 years. They put us in the worst spot in the room right by the bar area.
I was a bit unhappy with that but tried to be positive.
The food was simple & sophisticated. The duck was my favourite. It was delicious!
The eel cream just tasted like cream with no eel. The flavours were too mild.
We had complimentary sourdough pancake with truffle butter and the butter definitely needed more salt. Western Star butter was better. Haha
That being said, this was the first 6 course meal where I left HUNGRY.
Our expectations were high and it fell a bit short for us especially for the price that we paid for.
Service was great. We got a free chocolate cake and dessert as well as a nice souvenir with the menu and artisan chocolate.
Overall we give this restaurant an 8/10.
