If you don’t have a reservation the wait list is long (can be even 3 hours). Besides that that place is majestic. Beautiful spot with great bartenders who add to the experience and the noise of people talking and having a good time. The food is great. Every dish was delicious. The steak frites is the best I had in the city. The roasted chicken surprised me by how good it was. The stew was amazing as well.
I had been wanting to try Raoul’s but was a bit hesitant about walking in without a reservation. The restaurant saves the bar seats for walk ins, there are around 10 bar seats. We arrived around 5:45pm and put our name in for 2 guests. We were able to get a drink at the bar and sit upstairs in a small comfortable booth while we waited. It was nice to have a quiet moment just the two of us at the start of the night. We sat at the bar within 40 minutes. The main server / bar tender is named Angus – he was wonderful. Very attentive, on top of his game and quick. The bar area is a bit chaotic / lots going on, people trying to squeeze in to speak with the hostess. A fun but spirited environment. We split the ham / cheese beignets, and each had an entree – lobster tortellini and the steak. We had 3 drinks total – our bill came out to $250, so prepare to spend $$$ although everything was worth it.
I always have an amazing food and service experience at this restaurant. The burgers are to die for! Next choice is steak and frites. If you want to try the burger definitely do it during brunch over the weekend so you’ll be guaranteed to get a burger (since they only serve 12 each night during the weekdays). Staff is very friendly so ask them for recommendations.
Scallops and steak w fries were great. Definitely recommend those two. Pass on the beet salad and oysters. Super pricey spot. Check menu prices for their tapas style dishes so there’s no sticker shock 🙂
Put this at the top of your list – maybe the best French I’ve had in NYC to date.
Just copy our order. The escargot risotto is brilliant. Frisee is good but can skip it if inclined.
The steak and frites alongside the mashed potato is soooo good. Definitely recommend. But the lamb pasta was the bomb. It’s really small, but the taste is unreal.
Definitely recommend.
