What do San Carlo – Birmingham visitors reviews this place?
Beautifully decorated. Lots of attentive staff. The food was delicious. And all this in the nicest part of the city!
The only development point is that the cocktails are relatively expensive and very small!
We had a reservation was for 7:30pm but we were not seated until 8:15, with no explanation, apology or any notice I’d have to wait 45 minutes.
The food was extremely poor! What they claimed was focaccia was just a sourdough pizza base with rosemary and sea salt.
The duck ragu was not enjoyable and the pasta was way too soft and gave the other meal an unenjoyable texture. I would not recommend
For dessert the Milliefeuille wasn’t enjoyable me either, the puff pastry was soggy.
The positives were the cocktails, atmosphere and the staff were friendly
Always a fantastic experience, the food was immense last night, its not often I walk away from a restaurant as content as I did last night. A perfect setting for our anniversary, this place never disappoints. A favourite of mine in Birmingham for sure.
Made to feel welcome as always, friendly staff who were on the ball!

See you soon
Always a peril of dining out during Christmas shopping silly season. The restaurant was very busy and whilst the team were very pleasant, you couldn’t help but feel like you were on a conveyor belt and the sooner you left, the better.
2 out of the 3 pasta dishes we ordered were good, one unfortunately was barely warm but edible none the less.
We didn’t mention it as we were eating as one person would have been eating after everyone else had finished if the Dosh was replaced.
We mentioned it as we were cleared and the team did flag that they would have tried to remedy the situation.
It was my first visit to a San Carlo, I have to admit, I probably wouldn’t seek out another. Even if all 3 dishes had been a reasonable temperature, the experience fell a little short and flat for me.

Me and my friend went out for dinner. The staff let us choose where to sit which was nice of them. The atmosphere was quite chill, not too rowdy and loud. Downstairs part of the restaurant has a cute ceiling decor going on. Some of the staff were nice and friendly but some were quite rude. The food was amazing! I would definitely recommend the penne salmone and the truffle and Parmesan chips. And I would definitely go back again for the food 🙂
Toilets were clean and nice hand wash. They are downstairs but there is a disabled toilet upstairs! Menu had pasta, pizza, meats and fish. They have a bit of everything and it all looks amazing!
