Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine – Financial District

We happened to be in the area, got hungry and found this place. We love Cuban food so we definitely want to give it a try. It was late afternoon, early dinner time, guess a lot of food including oxtails were either gone or they were not ready yet. There were not many options. The salmon and chicken legs were decent, a little on the tough side but they’re delicious, the sweet plantains were good. Their green sauce was amazing, the freshness and spiciness of the sauce simply pushed the flavor of the food into next level. Happy with their service. Decent prices given it is in downtown, can be a little lower because it’s more like a fast food type restaurant

The food is sooo good! Is worth the price!! Highly recommend for Latinos or non latinos! Try new food! Is taste homemade!! 5 stars ⭐️ we pick the large plate two sides and one type of meat! Highly recommended!! Be kind ♥️🫶🏻

We visited Sophie Cuban Restaurant, a casual Cuban spot in Manhattan’s financial district. The restaurant offers a fast-food approach with self-service at the counter, similar to a deli or a place like McDonald’s.

The food was well-cooked, but it didn’t meet our expectations in flavor or presentation. The guava and cheese empanada was the standout dish, but the other food tasted plain and didn’t feel authentically Cuban.

The decor is basic, with framed Cuban posters on the walls. The salsa music playing in the background didn’t quite capture the Cuban spirit we hoped for. A lack of a detailed menu and photos made it difficult to know what we were ordering, which was a bit inconvenient.

The staff was friendly, and the food was very inexpensive. Sophie Cuban might be a suitable option for those seeking a budget-friendly meal with generous portions. However, those expecting a higher-end restaurant experience or authentic Cuban flavors may be left wanting more.

Overall, Sophie Cuban Restaurant offers value for money, but the culinary experience and ambiance didn’t match our hoped-for Cuban charm. It’s a good option for a quick, affordable meal but not for an authentic Cuban dining experience.

No complaints about the service. The ladies were nice. But not really my taste. I really thought it would be filled with more flavor. There was no salt in the veggies or taste. The plantains were the only thing I liked. The rice could do with some flavor.

Their empanadas are delicious. We love the beef, chicken, cheese, and guava and cheese ones. The fillings are generous and super tasty. My favorite is the beef bc it has green olives in it and is full of flavor.

We also tried their mango, papaya, and passion fruit smoothies. The mango was our favorite, but they were all yummy.

Everyone in the store is friendly and efficient.

The store itself is clean. We sat there tasting different empanadas and enjoyed the atmosphere.

We look forward to going back and trying their different foods.
