The Abbotsford Bar & Restaurant

Visiting from the USA. This was a nice find. I walked in and saw a full room, then I noticed additional dining upstairs. There is still limited capacity. They found a way to seat me. I found the service super delightful. The atmosphere is historic feeling. I really enjoyed my bangers and mash for a reasonable price.

Really good beef pie, and the sides too. The fish and chips tasty as well. The cider is good, not too sweet nor dry, either. Friendly staff which helps to make the experience even better.

Lovely place to eat, fantastic service, very attentive, good amazing. Visited twice during our 4 day stay which should say if all. I have eaten here with both by best friend and with my boyfriend on seperate occasions and they loved it too.

Went here on a whim and was very glad we did. Joseph was awesome and made us feel right at home. He not only served us as a waiter but he gave us the history of the bar, building, and much of Edinburgh as well. He made every table feel like they were the only ones there. The food was perfect. Wee haggis for starters and ale pies for entrees. Of course we had some ales to go with them. Joseph also enlightened us to the fact that this bar is one of four in the world that still pours them the way they do. Highly recommend.

What a lovely welcoming place to be. Great food at reasonable prices, very warm and friendly staff, nothing too much trouble. The interior is amazing, and the bar is craved wood with a wonderful warm open fire that makes it feel cosy. Restaurant upstairs also serves the same menu as in the bar. Highly recommend.
