The Dining Room by James Viles

The location and atmosphere are excellent, maybe the best in Sydney. You get a wide open view of the Opera House and harbour from a very peaceful vantage point.

The service was exceptional. Manuel (apologies if spelt wrong) and staff were highly professional, helpful and considerate. They made sure everything was satisfactory during our dinner.

The only downside was the food. For the prices charged and the reputation of the hotel, I would’ve expected better. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t really meet expectations either. The quality of food was only slightly above any normal restaurant you would go to for 1/4 the price.

If the food had met expectations I would’ve given this a 5 star rating.

Stunning location
We went here as a group of six Christmas Eve. We were seated on a high table on high chairs and four of us had excellent views. The table felt on the edge of the restaurant so it didn’t quite have the atmosphere of the restaurant. There is a small private room which could have been a better option. The table was very wide so hard to hold a conversation and I suggest you make sure you don’t get this table if going in 6 or 8. Lots of tables for 2 and 4 people and good place for a date.
The food is very good oysters fresh, all entrees good. Murray cod main excellent as was the scotch steak and pipies. The mix grill not so good chewy and lacked seasoning. All side amazing corn, potatoes highly recommended. Extensive wine list and excellent cocktails.
We had a drink in the bar first and good selection of cocktails.
Obviously the views of the opera house were amazing but we thought the restaurant could have decorated the restaurant and menu for Christmas.
Travel by taxi or Uber.

The Dining Room was an exceptional experience for dining. The champagne and wine we got was refreshing and smooth with the meal ahead. My favorite dish of the multi course meal was the Christmas ham. Such sweet and yet fresh taste. The duck was delicious too and it was my first time trying duck as well! The dessert was so good with the jam and cherries within.

Had a lovely time at The Dining restaurant! Located in circular quay inside the Park Hyatt was a sight for sore eyes with views of the Opera house and the water with boat coming in and out. Sitting right at the window seat we had a good view of it all.

Food was delicious, especially strawberry and scallop dish was WOW what a combo! All the food dishes were amazing and they have an excellent wine list. Probably lost points on cocktails as they weren’t my cup of tea.

We had lovely waiter and sommeliers, who had great recommendations on drinks and food + they were lovely host!

Lost points on how long food took to come out. However i would come back as food trumps other minor negatives.

Amazing food and amazing view of the Opera House. It was very expensive since we went on new year’s eve. We were dissapointed that there were no drinks included in the high price, except for a glass of champagne upon arrival. The staff was very kind, attentive and professional. One dish of the six-course menu was too cold. We also asked to hold off on the next course at some point, so we could enjoy our drinks. Yet when the course came too early, they refused to send it back. Still an overall great experience in a beautiful setting. The part of the Quay in front of their hotel was closed off for guests, so we had a great and view of the fireworks.
