About this restaurants :
The food was, without a doubt, great. I, personally, loved the beetroot salad, especially how all the seemingly diverse elements of it came together to form a flavor that I still passionately remember. Roasted cod was smooth in flavor and of a respectable portion size. Crab toast, personally for me, did not make me feel that “must try” feeling after eating it, as it was pointed out by other reviews, nor was I satisfied with the portion size. I would rather blame my high expectations, rather than the dish itself in this case. Lastly, the peach&chestnut souffle. We founds its softer consistency a bit unusual, but that did not stop us to fully enjoy the flavor that it brought with it! Definitely recommend it as a dessert, but be aware, they do change the flavor of it!
Service was without a doubt exceptional and attentive, both at the entrance and during our stay.
The only problem was the location of our table. It felt like a highway, with waiters constantly running around with food and wine bottles right past us, occasionally bumping into my elbow and dropping kitchenware next to us.
Service was chatty and ebullient and a brace of superb deserts including a memorable chocolate cake finished our stylish meal on a high.
Food executed perfectly (I’m a chef, you can trust this statement!), plating elegant and not overdone, excellent wine, faultless service which was attentive and friendly (again, something you wouldn’t expect in an establishment like this). Even the aesthetic was stunning but not over-embellished, just showcasing the beauty of gothic architecture.
The snails bourguingnon was a creative and very effective use of snails. Fish cooked perfectly with well balanced sauces, soufflé was high and proud with a recognisable, powerful flavour (hard to achieve in a soufflé!). Even the rum raisin ice cream was notable – silky in texture and super boozy. Crème caramel was one of the best I’ve had. Would love a peek at their recipes! Very impressed at what is achieved here and can’t wait to be back.
