West New Malaysia

A comforting taste of home here in the heart of Chinatown. As a Singaporean, it’s great to have delicious Southeast Asian cuisine so accessible to me without the markups found at other places in NYC.

The service was great and neighborly, adding to the atmosphere and delicious food. When we went on Thursday 4/4/24, there was a large family of over ten having dinner family-style, which added even more to the homestyle vibe you’d find back in Malaysia and Singapore.

Highly recommend getting a large portion of the Hainanese chicken so your party doesn’t have to fight over it!

I was the only European there.
The noodles with prawns were delicious.
I ordered some tea but they didn’t charge it.
So it was good and inexpensive.
As almost everywhere in the US, I wasn’t finished with my meal and the bill was already on my table.

I have been coming to this restaurant for decades, starting back at its old location near bowery and now at its new location. Great food, great staff. I love this place its a gem in China town. If your in china town you got to try it, the Indian pancake is a must.

Love this place, the food has a great kick especially if you like spicy. What ever you order make sure to get Indian pancake too and the milk tea. All their curries are amazing.

Ordered delivery through Grubhub but it got delivered directly by the restaurant. Got delivered quickly and accurately.

Really good portions for the appetizers! The curry for the Roti Canai comes in little cups with lids. Roti was both crispy and chewy. Curry was flavorful with a little bit of heat. The chicken in the curry was tender.

Satay chicken skewers were delish! Had that nice grilled taste. So much flavor. A little sweeter than expected, but our fave of the night.

Chicken wings were good. A little dry, but good flavor and still tender. Not sure if we’d get this again though.

Will have West New Malaysia on our list for our next visit to NYC/Chinatown! There’s a lot more on the menu we want to try!
